Your child loves their sport and they want to excel. With the right coaching they can get the edge in fitness and speed to help them get picked for the team, make the finals and be a champion at their game.
To help the junior sports people in your family to achieve, I draw on my 35 years of training, including years in a squad of elite athletes training under the Arthur Lydiard system. I also have years of working with athletes across many sports and helping thousands of people in community fitness.
I am a Level 2 Running Coach, certified by Athletics Australia. All of this experience, my passion for helping others to achieve their goals and my highly regarded capacities to target an athlete’s needs ensure your budding champion will become an achiever.
We work on building a solid fitness base, speed endurance and basic speed. As well as endurance running and track work, we work on drills and agility. We don’t ignore the strength work to help stave off potential sports injury. I regularly assess the athletes to make sure that their bodies are balanced and that any predisposition to injury is dealt with. Foam rolling, stretching and strength work are all part of the program.
We have two training sessions a week on or adjacent to Sylvania Waters Athletic Field. On day one we work on basic fitness and speed endurance. On day two we work on pure speed, agility, strength and mobility. This creates a well rounded athlete whose ready to excel in every sporting endeavour. The emphasis on the various aspects of training varies according to season
Everyone in the squad keeps a training diary which is sent to me each week. Sometimes there are small training homework programs. Every athlete learns the mental skills which create a champion’s mindset on the playing field and in the game of life.
Training fees are $20 per session but negotiable for hardship.
“I can’t express my gratitude to you for training Cohen enough. In the 2 years you’ve been working with him you’ve become a mentor, running coach and perhaps most importantly another adult in his corner. It takes a village and you’ve become an important part of our village. You’ve helped him build speed, strength and confidence. Cohen looks forward to his running sessions. Your understanding of kids and ability to motivate is a real asset. As a parent it’s important that his coach understands the mind as well as the body in order to keep him healthy, injury free and happy. We’ve been incredibly lucky to find you!” – Hannah Thompson-Geraghty
